COPING AFTER DIVORCE: GET YOUR LIFE BACK ON TRACK

In the worst moments of your divorce, it may seem like nothing in your life will ever be the same again. However, people who have been divorced do go on to have successful, productive and happier lives than they had when they were married.

Relationships experts and divorce attorneys typically find that people who are able to get through a divorce much quicker, are those who have a very solid support network. Your network will consist of family, loved ones, friends or even online support. Fortunately, you’re probably likely to find a support group close to you, and there are any number of online support groups for the divorced. Finding support may be especially more important in the case of males, who may be genetically programmed to believe that it’s weak to seek help after a major life changing event, like a divorce.

People who were able to pick up their pieces of their life quickly after divorce, are those who go into divorce believing that what comes after will be much better. Think positive. Keep yourself busy. If you don’t work or never worked during your marriage, now might be a good time to get back into the workforce.

Enroll in classes, or join activities that interest you, but never found time for earlier. Divorce actually provides a great opportunity for you to redefine who you are as a person.

Move on from the kind of social circles that you were used to during the marriage. Of course, it is a fact that a person with a multi-faceted personality, who was not defined purely by the role of a spouse during the marriage, will have a much easier time moving on.
